Selection of Bathroom Stone

People generally like to use plain or solid colors or simple textured stones to decorate the floor and walls of bathrooms, and use textured marble to decorate the countertop of washbasins, which can add a touch of elegance to the bathroom atmosphere.
Marble is also known as metamorphic or recrystallized limestone. True marble is a metamorphic rock composed of calcite and has a crystalline structure. Most marble is derived from limestone through geological changes, and its main components are calcite and calcium carbonate, with a Mohs hardness value of around 4.5. So its disadvantages are that it is relatively soft, acid and alkali resistant, and has poor resistance to weathering. It is easy to absorb liquids such as oil and water and be contaminated, easily scratched, and not wear-resistant. Moreover, almost all acid and alkali containing cleaning agents and stains will cause damage to marble. If it stays for a little longer, it will damage the marble and lose its luster.
Therefore, marble used in bathrooms should be made of harder and denser materials, and soft and high water absorbing marble should be avoided as much as possible. It is best to choose polished surface processing for bathroom marble, and protective treatment should be done before use, which can better protect the stone and be easy to clean. Moreover, the laying of marble is suitable for using vertical surface laying. Light colored stones are more resistant to slight soap water pollution than dark colored stones, so it is recommended not to use green serpentine and black marble in bathrooms and bathrooms, as this reduces the likelihood of surface contamination.
